- 1) What is Find a Job in Oz?
- We are a portal website that enables Australian businesses to reach out to the global labour market in an effort to fill skills gaps in their workforce. We offer businesses the opportunity to advertise their job vacancies live on this site, and then help bring together the prospective employee and employer, while advising regarding a suitable Australian visa strategy.
- 2) So what makes you different to other recruitment websites?
- Our specific focus is on skilled individuals from outside Australia. Some of these individuals will already have visas permitting them to live and work in Australia, while others will require assistance from an Australian employer to secure a suitable visa.
- 3) How do I upload my vacancies onto your website?
- The quickest method is to register with us by completing our registration form, after which one of our team will be in contact with you by telephone to discuss your situation and what you are looking for. You can then upload your skilled vacancies onto this website whenever they arise.
Alternatively, send us an email with a request for us to send you paperwork for completion in respect of your skilled vacancies so that we can enter your skilled vacancies onto this website.
Once we have received an initial communication from you we will discuss whether the position you are looking to fill is suitable for this website, whether your business is likely to meet Department of Immigration criteria (in the context of acting as a sponsor of a future visa application), and will answer any questions you have regarding Australian migration requirements.
- 4) What types of positions are permitted to be displayed?
- The focus of our marketing outside Australia is to prospective employees who already have a skilled visa, or who have sufficient skills as will enable them to obtain an employer sponsored visa when a suitable employer in Australia has been identified.
As such, and although not mandatory, we ask that employers only submit positions that are skilled, and where they are prepared to sponsor a skilled person for the grant of a visa should the need arise. Such vacancies typically require the payment of a minimum salary level by the Department of Immigration. It should be noted that not all jobs are suitable for visa sponsorship - particularly those that are not skilled.
Please contact us if you would like to discuss the nature of your vacancy and the requirements of the Department of Immigration more fully.
- 5) Do I have to pay to advertise?
- No, advertising a skilled job vacancy on findajobinoz is free. However, we ask that if a suitable individual (the prospective employee) who is identified to you (the employer) requires sponsorship to facilitate the grant of an Australian visa you are willing to sponsor the prospective employee to facilitate the grant of a visa.
- 6) How do you earn your money?
- We charge a fixed fee to employers who source an employee through findajobinoz upon a job offer being made to a prospective employee, which is invoiced when the employee commences work with the employer. The amount of our fee will be confirmed to you (the employer) when you advise a skilled vacancy to us, at which time a letter setting out our terms and conditions will also be issued.
Please contact us if you would like confirmation of our fee arrangements before you place a vacancy on the findajobinoz website.
- 7) If the prospective employee requires a visa how much do applications to the Department of Immigration cost - and who is going to pay these costs?
- The usual cost components of an Australian visa application are the Department of Immigration's visa application charges, medical examinations for the applicant and his/her accompanying family, police reports, and (where appropriate) the fees payable to the appointed migration agent.
The Department of Immigration's charges vary according to the nature of the visa pathway being followed - these can be confirmed once a visa pathway has been identified. The fees payable to migration agents also vary, and we recommend that fixed fee proposals are obtained.
In many cases prospective employees are content to pay these costs, but we generally encourage discussion between the employer and the prospective employee on this issue as a measure of salary packaging can be introduced in an effort to optimise the position.
- 8) What obligations do I have as a Department of Immigration approved business sponsor to any employee that my business sponsors?
- Please click here for details.
- 9) How long does an application to the Department of Immigration take to complete?
- The timeline for the processing of a visa application depends on the type of visa being sought - it can take as little as 2 to 4 weeks for the grant of a subclass number 457 long term employer sponsored temporary residency visa which is applied for electronically. Employer sponsored permanent residency visa applications lodged under the ENS and the RSMS are likely to have a timeline closer to 3 to 6 months.
These timelines are contingent on the required paperwork being made available in a timely fashion, and Department of Immigration resources, workloads and priorities in the business centre that is processing the visa application.
- 10) For how long can I sponsor a skilled person?
- You can sponsor someone for a permanent residency visa (permitting the visaholder to remain in Australia indefinitely), or for a long term temporary resident visa under subclass number 457. 457 visas can permit a stay in Australia for up to 4 years, and can be renewed by way of a subsequent visa application if the employer is happy to continue sponsoring the employee.
